Armadillo at Dick's
Anita had chemo today, which ran way later than expected due to various delays and frustrations. Afterwards we picked up Riley from the friends watching him and stopped by Dick's so I could get something to eat on the way home.

Apparently I wasn't the only one hungry...

I assume this was a live pet armadillo and not a taxidermied armadillo carefully posed for entertainment purposes?

I am croggled at the concept of a pet armadillo. Hell, I'm a tiny bit croggled at the concept of a pre-road-kill armadillo, not to mention an armadillo in Washington rather than flattened on some southwestern road.

Given a live armadillo in Washington, however, it is inevitable that said armadillo would be at Dick's.

Actually I'm not completely certain it was an actual live armadillo; it wasn't moving real fast (as in hardly at all). Perhaps it was a zombie armadillo?

That not moving fast thang is part of why so many armadillos end up as road kill. I don't think they'd make good zombies; they're hardly alive when they are alive, so being living dead wouldn't be enough of a phase-change for them to notice. Preying on the brains of still-living armadillos in the cannibal zombie tradition would be a tragic mistake for the zombie armadillo, since armadillos don't have enough brains to sustain the undead.

Of course, you'd expect a zombie armadillo to be incompetent.

I know from watching "Go, Diego, Go!" that the three-band armadillo is a very good digger. The one on the show won an animal race but Diego was helping her.

But the one Jack saw was not a three-band armadillo. It did appear to be drinking, though, and he saw the tongue moving. (er, I thought he did...)

Armadillo outside Zoo Tavern

Oh, wow. I observed something similar last month outside the Zoo Tavern in Eastlake. I was walking by and saw an armadillo on a leash, but I wasn't quite sure if it was real or not. I didn't stop to find out. It didn't seem strange to see a live armadillo or a fake one on a leash. Different people hang out at the Zoo.

I've seen that thing outside Cupcake Royale in Ballard. I was whipping past in my car on the way to get my hair cut and it blew my mind! During my appointment, I convinced myself that it was a stuffed critter, carefully posed in front of a water dish and that a hidden camera must be near by. On the return trip out of Ballard, it was still there and a black lab was flippin' out, sniffing it all over.
